About the Author
Lucy Maud Montgomery (1874–1942) was a Canadian novelist, poet, and essayist best known for creating Anne of Green Gables, one of the most beloved works of children’s literature. Raised on Prince Edward Island, the landscape and rhythms of rural life deeply shaped her writing, lending it warmth, wit, and lyrical beauty. Montgomery wrote over twenty novels, along with hundreds of short stories and poems, often centring imaginative young women, inner lives, and the quiet dramas of everyday existence. Her work explores themes of belonging, resilience, and the transformative power of imagination, and continues to enchant readers across generations and cultures.
