About the Author

Mario Meléndez is a Chilean poet born in Linares (1971). Among his books: Underground Flight, The Paper Circus, Death’s Days Are Numbered, Waiting for Perec, Garden of Rubble and The Loneliness Wizard. Some of his poems have been translated to various languages. In 2012 he moved to Italy and the following year he received the Presidential Medal of the Italian Republic, awarded by the Fondazione Internazionale Don Luigi di Liegro. In 2015 he was included in the anthology The Open Canon. Recent Spanish Language Poetry (Madrid, Visor). In 2017 some of poems were translated to English and published in the renowned Poetry Magazine from Chicago. In 2022, RIL editores published his collected work under the title Notes for a Legend and in the anthology Requiem for Suicidal Fruit. He is considered to be one of the more original voices of the new Latin American poetry

About the Translator

Jeremy Paden is an American poet born in Milan, Italy (1974). Raised in the Southern US, Central America, and the Caribbean, he is Professor of Spanish at Transylvania University. Among his books are: ruina montium, world as sacred burning heart, Self-portrait as an Iguana, Imágenes del mundo flotante, and how to recognize god’s chosen. He has translated many Spanish and Latin American poets into English, and also has translated into Spanish the former US Poet Laureate Ada Limón. The North American Academy of the Spanish Language awarded his bilingual, illustrated children’s book Under the Ocelot Sun a Campoy-Ada Prize.

About the Illustrator

Sarbani Dasgupta was born in 1968 in Konnagar and graduated from the Government College of Art and Craft in Kolkata. Being a versatile contemporary artist, her work spans across languages and cultures. Her works have been extensively exhibited in Kolkata and Dhaka, where she enjoys the company of her favourite humans, books and films.
