About the Author
A renowned novelist, short story writer and poet, Tilottama’s writing has been admired widely for their unparalleled depth and linguistic richness by mindful Bengali readers for decades. She has received numerous prestigious awards and accolades for her work, including Ananda Puroshkar – 2003, Ektārā Sreshtho Uponnyas Puroshkar, Bhagolpur Sarat Smriti Puroshkar – 2007, and Rajpat Kakkanadan Foundation Sahithya Puraskaram – 2013. Basudhara, Shamukkhol, Rajpat are some of her acclaimed works of fiction. She is also a prolific short-story writer, essayist and a poet. Her stories have been translated and included in Flaming Flowers (Vol 1) anthology of women writers from Bengal in 2022.
About the Translator
Manaswinee Runumi Mahanta: A creative writer, translator, film researcher, film and food historian, she hails from the Indian state of Assam. As a notable emerging writer of the contemporary Assamese literary society, she has some critically appreciated short stories to her name, some of which have been published in her anthology Chamapawatir Na-Kai xajaa Gharkhan, in 2022. Her short story, Tezimolar Maahimaake Suli Kaatibalai Thaai Etukuraa Paale was selected for the Write Assamese Project, a collaboration between Untold UK and Bee Books India, sponsored by British Council.
Her creative writings and film criticisms have previously been featured in Satsori, Prakash, Gariyashi, Dainik Janmabhumi, Amar Asom, Sadin and other Assamese periodicals as well as newspapers. As a playwright Mahanta’s work has been staged on prestigious platforms like Ban Theatre, Rabindra Bhawan, Jorhat Theatre etc.
