Apurba Kumar Saikia, Sahitya Akademi Awardee (2020) for the short story collection Bengsata, is an MS in Ophthalmolo- gy and presently serves as a senior administrative officer under the Govt. Of India. A prolific Assamese writer, Dr. Saikia has authored eleven short story collections, one anthology of essays and edited one anthology of translated world short stories. Over the years, he has been the recipient of numerous honors, including the Literary Excellence Award by the Indian Medical Association (2012), the Katha-sandhi Samman by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi (2018), the Ambikagiri Roychoudhury Award by Asam Sahitya Sabha for Chatar Urohi (2019). Presently, he is a General Council Member of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
