About the Author

Debajyoti Chatterji is a prominent figure in the New Jersey Bengali community. He actively engages in philanthropy, photography, writing, traveling, and mentoring. Born into a lower-middle-class family in Puri, Odisha, Chatterji’s academic journey was supported by scholarships, allowing him to graduate at the top of his class from IIT-Kharagpur. He went on to earn his PhD at Purdue University with just eight dollars in his pocket. Chatterji enjoyed a distinguished career at GE and British Oxygen, retiring early as Managing Director of Technology, Health, Safety, and Environmental Programs with global responsibilities. He has published over 40 scholarly papers, holds seven patents, and has received numerous awards. Following his retirement at 54, Chatterji has dedicated himself to his passions and community work, continuing to make significant contributions in various fields.
