A Prominent Bengali author and poet, Ahana’s writing has garnered attention for their exploration of complex human psyche and shades of relationships. When not teaching or working on her writing, she spends her time painting. Ahana is based in Shantiniketan, West Bengal.
Her published books in Bengali include Meyeder Hostel Jiban: Andarer Kathamala, Asatijiban, and Ladies Compartment. She has received several awards including Somen Chanda Award and Bharatbyas Award, to name a few.
Shamita Das Dasgupta is a co-founder of Manavi, the first organization to focus on violence against South Asian women in the U.S.
She has taught Psychology, Gender Studies, and Law at the Rutgers University and NYU, authored five books, written a bunch of academic papers and monographs, and is still conducting training for DV and SV practitioners in the U.S. and India. In her retirement, she is enjoying writing mystery stories in Bengali.
